Smart Kalasatama: an extra hour for every day


Kalasatama will be Helsinki’s smartest district. Good urban planning and new digital services will help residents to manage their time better. Kalasatama will feature eco-friendly solutions, such as a smart waste management system in which trash zooms along at 70 km/hr under the streets.

The City of Helsinki wants to turn Kalasatama into a model area for smart urban construction. This task is headed up by the Smart Kalasatama project, which is run by Forum Virium Helsinki in cooperation with the residents of the area, companies and city agencies. SRV, the builder of REDI, is actively involved in the project.

The ambitious goal set for Smart Kalasatama is to save an hour a day for residents by helping them to manage their daily tasks better.
